Welcome to Heritage Sermons
Heritage Sermons is an online repository for the ministry of Strict Baptist ministers. The aim is to preserve the many old recordings of Strict Baptist ministers and disseminate them to another generation. We desire that the Lord’s blessing might yet rest upon the ministry – for the Word will not be without profit before the Lord.
This repository was originally started by the late Jonathan Morgan (1943-2010) back in the 1980s. He collected a vast collection of sermon recordings, obtaining permission at the time from the ministers and chapels involved for the inclusion of these sermons in a lending archive. While the collection grew exponentially, the lending archive never reached fruition, and on his death the tapes were handed on to a friend with the express instruction to attempt to achieve Jonathan’s goal.
Ten years later, an attempt was finally made to move the collection from old reel-to-reel tapes, and cassette tapes, into a digital form compatible with the 21st Century. Finally, in keeping with Jonathan’s original desire to create a lending archive, this website was created to allow these sermons to be made freely available for all interested listeners.
The repository is a work in progress with fresh material being added very regularly. If you have old cassette tapes, reel-to-reel recordings lying around or sermons already digitized which you would like to donate to the project, please do get in touch at heritagesermons@gmail.com.
We have two simple rules for inclusion of sermons in this repository:
- The sermon must have been preached by a minister who was a member of a Gospel Standard listed church OR preached in a Gospel Standard listed chapel.
- We are only publishing the ministry of ministers who have passed away.
